Gerard Joseph Gabel, 73, resident of Eldorado passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at his residence. Gerard was born May 11, 1942 in Harrisburg to the late Joseph Henry and Veronica Sofa (Fals) Gabel. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldorado. He worked for General Motors prior to retirement. Gerard served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Gerard is survived by several cousins and many good friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister; Carolyn Ann Hart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, October 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldorado with Fr. Abraham Adejoh officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Shawneetown. Visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2015 from 5-7 pm with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Southeastern Pregnancy Resource Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.
