Lela June (Hunt) Hunt

November 4, 1941 ~ March 1, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old


Lela June Hunt, 75, died peacefully at home in Mitchellsville on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017. She was born November 4th, 1941 in Harrisburg Il.  She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.  She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in December, 2006.  Her strong will to live, excellent medical care, the loving support of her family and friends, prayers and her faith in God carried her through her 10 year battle.  Yet even through her struggle with cancer, she managed to do the things she loved.  She enjoyed going to The Smokey Mountains in Tennessee with her sons and daughter, and several other family members over the years.  She loved cooking, gardening, canning, reading and in recent years doing puzzles. She loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and enjoyed spending lots of time with them. Her surviving family members are numerous, but mainly include: Her 3 children:  Russell and Marnia (Joyner) Hunt, Denzil and Barbara (Hunt) Agin, and Jeff Hunt. Her Grandchildren:  Benji and Melanie (Washinski) Hunt, Melissa Hunt and fiancée, Jason Shelton, Ryan and Kristin (Hunt) Smith, Jeremy and Karissa (Hunt) Irlbeck, Evan Hunt and fiancée Peyton Brown, and Marriah Hunt, Ashley O’Neal, and Cody Oxford. Her Great Grandchildren: Dustin, Brentley, Sophia, Dylan, Nate, Dallas, Kannon, Wiley, Jordan, Rylee, Kyleigh, Emery, and Thomas. She is survived by 5 brothers and 1 sister:  Bill Hunt, Kenneth Wayne Hunt, Barbara (Hunt) Eugene Baldwin, George (Debbie) Hunt, Dennis (Cathy) Hunt, and Jim (Eileen) Hunt. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to list. She is preceeded in death by her Father and Mother, Clifford and Myrtle (Mann) Hunt, a brother, Clifford “Buster” Hunt, Sister in law, Sarah (Carter) Hunt and a niece, Peggy Hunt. She requested to be cremated and a Memorial Service only. It will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Mitchellsville on Saturday, March 11th, at 10 a.m. with lunch to follow. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the church.
