Robert Richard Smith

Robert Richard “Dick” Smith, 81, of Harrisburg, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015, 3:55 a.m., at the Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.  He was born on May 15, 1934 in the small Illinois town of Wasson, the son of the late Robert and Sylvia (Stephenson) Smith.  Dick married the former Sandra S. Rhine on 28th of April 1956.  He spent over forty years as a parts manager for several local Ford dealerships.  He served our country in the Air Force stationed in Germany during the Korean War.  Dick was a member of the Harrisburg American Legion Post #167 and enjoyed attending the Harrisburg Golden Circle.  He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra S. Smith of Harrisburg; daughter, Kathy and Deryl Tolbert of Harrisburg ; son, Rick and Chris Smith of Odessa, Mo.; daughter, Robin and Earl Kanady of Galatia; five grandchildren, Jason and Kelly Maxfield, Cory and Julia Hogg, Randi Hall, Jamie and Matt Jeralds, Kelsey and Andrew McLean; one sister, Mary Ann and Wayne Harner of Eldorado; one brother, Bill and Betty Smith of Eldorado; three brother-in-laws, Jeff and Jill Rhine, Rex and Rosemary Rhine, and Phillip Rhine; ten great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Timmy Hogg; one sister, Phyllis June Smith.  A memorial service for Dick will be at a later date.  Colonial Terrace Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.  Donations in Dick’s memory a be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
