My heart goes out to the surviving members of Coaches family!! I don't get out a lot anymore and am very sorry that I heard of his passing today!! I most certainly would have attended his funeral!! Coach had a smile on his face when he talked to me every time I seen him in school whether or not I had acted like a fool or head did something good in the sport I was playing and his disposition I felt and seen constantly was unmatched and he always gave me a comforting feeling when he talked to me because of his good heart and care in being a role model and mentor to people and I certainly needed that!! I always referred to him as coach because that's what he did for me in life and never quit!!! I would run into him in certain stores and I was smiling the moment I saw him before he noticed me because he would immediately smile and say " Perez how are you doing and how is everything going "?? I could always tell him anything good or bad and he would wish me well and push me forward no matter what it was and the truth too a situation like that is that there are not too many people in the world who are willing to continue to push you and wish you well in life genuinely on the inside and I always felt that from Coach and will always remember it until my passing away!! Being a Christian man, woman and family is the biggest of everything though and I am glad to know that coach was a Christian man so that life has truly started for him now with his home in Heaven Beside our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he no longer deals with any pain sorrow or suffering and I believe that is and will always be the truly best gift for us!! Now he has received his Ultimate gift!!! God Bless all of you and remember Jesus comforts and heals in long times of mourning,....rely and trust in him and peace shall come!!!! SEE YOU SOON COACH!!!!

I was on the CCHS 1968 Terrier football team that Mr. Pollock coached to an undefeated season. I remember him as a gentle, straight forward person not known to sugar coating anything. More important than being liked, coach demanded respect from his players. Rest in Peace Mr. P!

My sympathy to the family of Mr. Pollock. He was teacher/coach during my high school years, '63-'67, at Carbondale Community High School. I remember him well. He always spoke; always smiled. What a blessed life he lived.

I always enjoyed seeing and talking to Vern at games and track meets. He always asked about "the family". We talked many times about how athletics have changed and about past players and teams. He knew everyone and loved kids. Will leave a void in so many places. Thanks for the conversations, Vern.
