Vester Vernell Ellis

March 27, 1926 ~ June 2, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

 V. Vernell Ellis, 90, of Eldorado, passed away June 2, 2016 in Eldorado. Upon completing high school, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the Destroyer, U.S.S. Walke, in the Pacific during W.W. II.  After serving our country, he attended Tenn. Technical University earning a Bachelor of Science degree, University of Tenn. earning a Masters degree and the University of Ill. earning an Advanced degree in School Administration.  He taught science and was a principal for 38 years in Tenn. and Ill.  After retiring from the Eldorado School System in 1987, he was the volunteer co-ordinator for the American Red Cross in the Eldorado and Harrisburg area for 10 years.  He served as Vice President and President of the Saline-Gallatin County Retired Teachers Assn., also as a member on The Board of Friends of the Eldorado Memorial Library, he served in many positions.  He was an avid reader.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Eldorado, where he served many years as Chairman of Trustees and Chairman of Finance.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, one daughter, and one grandson. He is survived by his wife Patricia, one sister, two daughters, two stepsons, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  Interment will be in Louisiana with his brothers.  Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Eldorado or Eldorado Memorial Library if so desired.  There will be no services.
