William Emil Allen

William Emil Allen, 89, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 29, 2016, surrounded by his family.  He was born September 11, 1926 in Saline County and was raised in the Oak Grove Community. He was one of seven children belonging to George and Gertrude (Overton) Allen. Emil loved the Lord and since 1955, was a General Baptist Deacon at Oak Grove General Baptist Church and later Star General Baptist Church. He loved his family, fishing and sharing his sweet corn with everyone he knew. He was a M.P. during WWII in Japan. On June 4, 1950, he married Reta (Mosby) Allen who survives. The two have been married nearly 66 years, raised three children and lived in the same home all those years. They were best friends. Emil was a farmer and planted his fields every year for the last 65 years. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by three children; Mike Allen, Larry (Valerie) Allen and Cathy (Larry) Parks all of Eldorado, 11 grandchildren; Brandon Allen, Jeremy Allen, Rachel Allen, Matt Allen, Rick Ward, Craig Parks, Barry Parks, Jennifer Hosman, Kaylee Allen, Katie Allen, Trista Allen, 6 great grandchildren; Bryce Allen, Payton Allen, Daniel Allen, Logan Parks, Maci Parks, Graham Hosman, 3 brothers; Clarence (Barbara) Allen of Harrisburg, Robert (Mary Jane) Allen of Pinehurst, NC, Bernie (Barbara) Allen of Pinehurst, NC, a sister; Helen Williams of Marion and a sister-in-law; Mary Allen of Carmi. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Vernon and Delmas.  Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Star General Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Phelps officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday 2:00 pm to service time at the church.  In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the church.
