William Reuben “Rube” Prince, 49, of Eldorado, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, Ind. He was born in Eldorado on November 9, 1965. He married Philis “PJ” Anderson Prince on February 27, 1999. He professed his faith as a Christian and shared the story of his salvation in his grandparent’s home as a young boy. Rube was an avid golfer and expanded that passion when he opened his golf club repair shop, Prince’s Clubhouse. He loved helping young golfers develop a love for the game. A 1984 graduate of Harrisburg High School, he was center of the varsity football team. The Harrisburg Daily Register named him on their “All Century Team” as they reviewed the best HHS athletes of the 20th Century. He was a Bulldog for life but was guilty of cheering on the Eldorado Eagles on occasion. In addition to his wife PJ, Rube is survived by his parents, Mary Kay Wright of Norris City, Ill. and Steve Prince of Shreveport, La.; one son, Wesley Prince of Eldorado, mother-in-law, Stella Anderson; two brother-in-laws, Tom Anderson and Jim (Lisa) Anderson.; aunt and uncles, Connie Harbison, Rex and Toots Harbison, Cobb and Debra Prince; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. His grandparents; Roy and Hazel Prince, Carroll and Imogene Harbison, preceded him in death as did his loving step-father, John C, “Jack” Wright. Visitation for Rube will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado. A private burial of his ashes will be held at the Rhine Cemetery near Raleigh at a later date. In lieu of flowers, honor Rube with memorial donations in his name to the Harrisburg High School Athletic Department.
