Betty (Tarlton) Sowder-Gay

Betty Sowder-Gay, 84, resident of Harrisburg passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Villa’s of Hollybrook in Harrisburg.  Betty was born August 13, 1935 in Rudiment, Illinois to the late Virgil and Rachel (Followell) Tarlton. She married David Gay who preceded her in death. Betty worked as a nurse until retirement. She was Baptist by faith. she is survived by Two Sons: Morgan (Karen) Mattingley, Jr. of Eldorado, James Mattingley of Harrisburg, two daughters: Lois Ann (Lyndell) Walker of Galatia, Nancy (Warren) Stricklin of Harrisburg, two brothers: Ray (Brenda) Tarlton of McLeansboro, Herb Tarlton of the Philippines, a sister: Bonnie Graham of AR, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. in addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother: Johnny Tarlton and two sisters: Kay Duncan and Alberta Sue Tarlton. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Rev. Rick Ball officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, December 30, 2019 from 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home.
