J.C. Price

July 17, 1926 ~ May 9, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

J.C. Price, 90, of Godfrey, Illinois went to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 9th, 2017. The loving father and grandfather was born on July 17, 1926 to Joseph and Ellen Price in Cave in Rock, Illinois. J.C. was a WWII veteran who served in the Philippines, Japan, and the Battle of Luzon. In life, he was incredibly humble and did not like to speak of his achievements, but notably, he earned a Combat Infantry Badge, Marksman Rifle Badge, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal for Japan, Asiatic Pacific Theatre with one Bronze star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze star, the Victory Medal, the Army Lapel Button, the Army Service Ribbon and two Overseas Service Bars.

After the war, J.C. went to barber school and became an OVHD crane operator for Laclede Steel, where he worked for 25 years. He was a proud member of the Masons, Kiwanis, and Shriners.

J.C. was married to Edna (nee Lowery) Price for nearly fifty years. They had four children: Marion, Richard, Joseph and Ellen Price. They have six grandchildren: Tara (Mark) Price, Jason (Jessica) Price, Christopher (Kristi) Price, Lauren (Jason) Smith, and Danielle and Holden Cook; and six great-grandchildren: Zachary and Ian Price, Deyton and Edan Smith, Marc Pflueger, and Aubrey Price.

In 1997, he married JoVenna Manns. The two spent their retirement traveling and volunteering with organizations such as the Kiwanis. J.C. enjoyed spending time with JoVenna’s family (the Lafikes’) as they became his family, as well. J.C. was a quick-witted, kindhearted man who will be remembered by his loved ones as someone they could always count on as an example of unconditional love and steadfast support. He will also be remembered for his topnotch cooking skills. Some of his family’s favorites included his peanut butter candy, cocoa gravy, and biscuits and gravy.

J.C. left the earthly world to join his parents, brothers, Larry Joe and Alfred Price, wife, Edna, sons, Marion and Richard, and daughters-in-law, Donna and Gale Price, in the Kingdom of God.

Services will begin at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado, Illinois with a short visitation and conclude with graveside services at Wolf Creek Cemetery. He will be laid to rest next to his mother, brother, Larry Joe, beloved Edna, sons, and daughter-in-law, Donna. His memory will live on in the hearts of his friends and family who were so lucky to share the gift of knowing him.
