It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Carlis Lee Medley, a man whose strength and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Carlis was born on July 14, 1938 in Eldorado to Fern (Phelps) Medley and Hubert Medley. He was the oldest of three children from that union. Carlis attended Beulah Heights school in Eldorado and graduated from Central High School in Evansville IN. He met the love of his life, Pearl Wilson, and together they shared 67 years of marriage. Carlis and Pearl had three children, Carla (Medley) Thompson, Valerie (Medley) Brown, and Shawn Medley. Carlis served as Postmaster in Evansville IN and retired from there after 31 years. He was known for his unwavering work ethic, gentle spirit, and sense of humor. He was a longtime member of the Restitution Church of God, where he served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher for 45 years. He also provided sermons as a lay person on many occasions over those years. Carlis loved and served his Lord with all that he had and was a wonderful role model to his children, grandchildren, other family members and friends. He enjoyed music and singing as well as hunting, fishing, reading, and most sports. He was always up for an Evansville Aces game or a St. Louis Cardinals game. Carlis is survived by daughter Valerie Brown of Eldorado and son Shawn Medley (Jennifer) of Mt. Vernon IN., son-in-Law Tim (Stephanie) Thompson, granddaughter Ashley Thompson of Owensville, IN, grandson Logan (Becca) Thompson also of Owensville, IN, grandson Adam (Amanda) Brown of Eldorado, IL granddaughter Audrey (Cory) Talbott of Harrisburg IL, grandsons Lucas Medley and Liam Medley of Elberfield, IN, great grandsons, Tanner Mayer, Jacob Thompson, Josiah Thompson, Chase Adams, and Grayson Adams, great granddaughters Rachel Thompson, Emma Talbott, Olivia Talbott, Ella Brown, Jordyn Talbott, and Addy Brown, as well as 3 brothers in law and 3 sisters in law, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
