Carol J. Foster, a beloved mother to Larry Miller, 55, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away at Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, leaving a void her family and friends cannot fill. She was born in the country outside of Elizabethtown, Illinois in 1937 to James “Jim Cat” and Roberta Mason and had very fond memories of her childhood on the homestead there and their family experiences together. Carol attended school locally near Elizabethtown and later, Danville Junior College (Danville, Illinois) before studying Business Administration at Southern Illinois College (Harrisburg, Illinois). She worked in various capacities over the years to include an aviation company in Danville, Illinois, A.L. Bowen Developmental Center in Harrisburg, Illinois and then later Egyptian Home Health, Saline County Housing Authority, Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office and Mid-Five Employment & Training. Carol was a devoted mother to Larry, her pride and joy. She always said his birth changed her life for the better, and he felt that in the love and support she provided throughout his whole life, even recently while her health continued to deteriorate. Carol took special joy in raising her son as a single parent and had fond memories of their time spent together during family events, later family reunions and the small pleasures of going to the park and having small cookouts together. Later in life she enjoyed boating, RV camping and simple pleasures. Carol was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Eugene Foster, a sister Thelma Crane, a brother William “Bill” Mason, a sister Lela “Frannie” Roberts, a brother John Mason, a niece Sherry Page, a nephew Glenn Mason and is survived by her son, her grandsons Anthony and Daniel Miller, Deborah Wallace (niece), Brian Mason (nephew), James Mason (nephew), Lisa Dunn (niece), Joe Page (nephew) and David Page (nephew), who will never forget the love she brought to their lives. Carol requested a quiet burial at Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Illinois after being cremated, with her ashes to be placed behind her mother’s gravestone along with some of her previous pet’s ashes. Burial will be held on 29 July at 1100am.
