Dorothy Alberta Adams, 96, resident of Raleigh, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. Dorothy was born September 3, 1923 in Broughton to the late Henry and Maude A. (Robinson) Gunter. She married Virgil Davis who preceded her in death and Norman Adams who also preceded her in death. She was a longtime member and former Sunday School teacher at Mt. Pleasant Social Brethren Church. She worked 20 yrs at Golden Circle as a cook and Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She cooked at different restaurants thru out southern Illinois. Dorothy is survived by a daughter: Alice R. “Susie” Roberts of Eldorado, 7 grandchildren: Nancy Evans (Danny), Danny Wilson, Cherrie Anderson, Dena Byrd, Cindy Marek (Robert), Tim Davis (Debbie) and Gerald Davis Jr. (Christy), 7 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by two sons: Gerald Davis and Larry Davis, two brothers: Jack Gunter, “Bud” Gunter, two sisters: Katherine Gunter, Juanita Phillips and one great grandchild Chad Wilson. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, July 13, 2020 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Finnie officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery.
