Gary Eugene Riecks

Gary Eugene Riecks, 69, Equality IL, Passed away, December 18, 2025, at home after a long battle with COPD, surrounded by family. Gary was born in Bloomington, IL December 15, 1956 to Eugene Riecks and Geraldine (Handley) Riecks. He worked as a carpenter for most of his life, a trade he took pride in, until a disabling injury in 2006 ended his career. Gary leaves behind his devoted wife Mary (Murphy) Riecks of Equality, son Bradley Murphy(Melissa), Wamac. IL, daughter Samantha Riecks, Eldorado IL. grandson Andrew Riecks, Eldorado IL and granddaughter Isabelle Riecks, Equality IL, sister Karen Brown(Bill) Normal IL. He was preceded in death by both his parents and son Joseph Riecks. Gary wished to be cremated and the family will plan a celebration of life in the future. We would like to thank Residential Hospice of Southern IL, and RN Charity Brown and LPN Melanie Price for their remarkable care and support over the past 18 months.
