Gene Rightnowar

Gene Rightnowar, 87, resident of Carrier Mills passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the VA Medical Center in Marion.  Gene was born May 1, 1935 in Taylorville to the late Omar and Edith Pauline (Jackson) Rightnowar. Gene worked as a truck driver for Scot Lad prior to retirement. During his life Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding and most of all his family. Gene is survived by four children: Cathy (Jeff) Earnest of Greenup, Phillip R. Rightnowar of Terre Haute, IN, Dawan B. (Leslie) Rightnowar of Harrisburg, Shawn B. (Stanli) Rightnowar of Harrisburg, ten grandchildren: Holly (Rich) Johnson, Hillary (Matt) Perry, Christina (Zach) Meek, Lynetta (Robert) Hasten, T.J. (Amy) Smith, Dalton (Julia) Rightnowar, Cody (Kaylee) Rightnowar, Mackenzi Rightnowar, Alexa (Joe) McLanahan, Abby Rightnowar (Shay McLanahan) and numerous great and great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son: Omer Eugene Rightnowar, a brother: Don Rightnowar, two sisters: Ann Harrum, Bert Wallace and a grandson: Caleb Rightnowar. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service start. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
