Georgianna Gorz

Georgianna Gorz, affectionately known as Georgi, of Harrisburg, gained her wings on February 1, 2025, at her home .

Georgi was born on March 9, 1940, in Chicago Illinois, to Helen Gorz, along with her twin brother George.  George and Georgi could not have been more different.  Georgi was outgoing and never met a stranger, whereas George was the quiet one.  Georgi was all about the glitz and glamour, while George is much more practical.

Georgianna lived at Turner Manor for many years.  In 2015 she moved into the Longley Street CILA for a short time before retiring to the Triple S CILA where she enjoyed the slowed down pace of life in the country.  She liked to sit on the porch and watch the cars pass, with a big smile and friendly wave for all who went by. She was known for her out-going personality, huge smile and love of McDonalds french fries.  She was quite the party animal and loved getting dressed up.  She had an extensive collection of necklaces, headbands, sunglasses, and crowns that she wore proudly every chance she got. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done. Georgi was always ready for an adventure, especially if it involved sight-seeing around Southern Illinois and shopping with her friends. Georgi was loved by everyone who met her.

Georgi is survived by her twin brother George, of Quincy Illinois, her Coleman Tri-County staff, special friends who were always willing to shake their ponytail for her, and faithful pet, Daisy, whom she really didn’t care much for.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen, and many of several of her dear friends and housemates at Coleman Tri-County.

Graveside service will be Thursday, February 6, at 1:00pm at Sunset Lawn Cemetery.  Johanna Moorman, BCBA will be officiating.

Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado is in charge of arrangements.
