Gerry A. Givens, 79, resident of Eldorado went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Herrin Hospital. Gerry was born June 21, 1941 in Fairfield, Illinois to the late Gerald W. and Edna (Clevenger) Hooper. Gerry wore many hats in her lifetime including being a beautician, secretary at Calvary Christian Academy, CNA and cook at Finnie’s Nursing Home, receptionist of 21 years for Dr. Ewell, working the Closet of Second Blessings, receptionist at Saline County Housing, but her best hats she wore were being a mother and grandmother. Gerry throughly enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, attending Cattle Shows, spending time with her Star Church family, her Saturday nights with Robbie, Sandy and Janet but her two true passions in life were being highly involved in the Closet of Second Blessings and having pizza parties with her family. Gerry is survived by a daughter: Kim (Randy) Deal of Galatia, a son: Tim (Wendy) Givens of Port Orange, Florida, grandchildren: Ashlea Deal and Matt Deal of Galatia, Lee (Taylor) Givens of Vienna, Phil (Denise) Givens of Ridgway, and Linley (Mark) Hopson of Omaha, great grandchildren: Kyle, Dylan, Ethan, Cooper, Piper, Cade and Josie, a sister: Evadene Maricle of Fairfield, a brother: Ronnie (Donna) Hooper of Eldorado, two nephews and their families: Clint (Autumn) Hooper and Greg (Kim) Willis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Melvin Maricle. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday August 23, 2020 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Phelps officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 11:00 am to service time. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. In addition to flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Closet of Second Blessings or the Star Church Building Fund and both will be accepted at the funeral home.
