Gordon Ray Clevenger

Gordon Ray Clevenger, 74, resident of Ridgway passed away Tuesday, January 18 2022 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Gordon was born November 25, 1947 in Karbers Ridge, IL to the late William Otto and Joy (Collins) Clevenger. He married the former Carolyn L. Lynch who survives.  Prior to retirements gordon worked at the grain elevator in Shawneetown. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was Methodist by faith. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter: Carrie (Frank Seets) Clevenger of Eldorado, a son: Monte Vied of West City, four sisters: Annette (Steve) Brugger of Ridgway, Joyce Clevenger of Shawneetown, Cindy Dunk of Shawneetown, June (Rick) Rushing of Shawneetown, several nieces and nephews and his granddogs: Maggie and Gordo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob Clevenger, Pete Clevenger, Ricky Clevenger and four sisters: Karen McClain, Patsy Clevenger, Gracie Warden and Connie Smith. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Thad Galloway and Michael Rushing officiating. Visitation will be noon to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
