Gordon E. Starnes, age 70, of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away on December 18, 2025. He was born on July 6, 1955, to James and Wanda (Beasley) Starnes. Gordon devoted many years to the construction industry, retiring as a supervisor with E.T. Simonds. He was admired for his strong work ethic and leadership. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. An avid hunter, Gordon also loved fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, and his beloved dog, Crop. Gordon is survived by his two daughters, Julie Davis of Sikeston, Missouri, and Amber (Toby) Jack of Marion, Illinois; one grandson, Tucker Sharp of Marion, Illinois; his companion, Trish Hall of Elizabethtown, Illinois; his sister, Gayla (Tom) Dougan of Creal Springs, Illinois; sister-in-law, Theresa Starnes of Creal Springs, Illinois; one nephew, Jimmy (Lupe) Starnes of Marion, Illinois; and three nieces, Lisa Craig of Dykersburg, Illinois, Danielle (Jason) Craig of Creal Springs, Illinois, and Melanie (Mark) Rady of Marion, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Starnes and Wanda (Beasley) Starnes; his granddaughter, Raven Sharp; three brothers, Bill, Greg, and Mike Starnes; and one sister, Rhonda Starnes.
In accordance with Gordon’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no funeral services will be held. The family is planning a celebration of his life January 10, 2026 at 1:00 pm at JoJos Bar at 210 Sloan Street Harrisburg, Illinois 62946. The memories of Gordon will live on, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and his beloved dog, Crop.
