James Robert Sparks, of Enfield, Illinois, passed away on June 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75.
Born on July 7, 1949 in Herrin, Illinois, James was the son of James Thomas Sparks and Betty Jane Smith.
James’s legacy lives on through his children, Amy Brady, Christopher Michael Sparks (known as Mike), and Cynthia Winters; and his grandchildren, including Lillian Brady, Grayson Brady, Ryan Sparks, Chase Soulliere, Caitlin Soulliere, Clarence Farmer, Chaela Sparks, Scarlett Bennett, Brett Winters, and Travis Winters. He also leaves behind siblings Suzi Swingle, Sandy Fulton, Stephanie Salva, Sonya Reed, Stan Sparks, and Samuel Sparks, as well as all his lovely great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, friends, in-laws, church members, and acquaintances.
James was preceded in death by his late wife, Kim Anne Carveth; his parents, James and Betty Sparks; siblings Sarah Barnard, Sally Reed, and Steve Sparks; and his grandchild, Beckett Sparks.
As a retired Correctional Officer, James served in both the New Hampshire Department of Corrections and the New Hampshire Rockingham Country Department of Corrections. In 2000, he was awarded a Letter of Commendation for his years of service and his dedication to protecting fellow Correctional Officers from harm.
James, affectionately known as Bobby by his closest loved ones, was celebrated for his unwavering work ethic, infectious humor, and deep passion for farm life. From constructing bridges and installing cable TV to repairing homes, cars, and farm equipment, James possessed an extraordinary talent for fixing anything that broke.
Refreshments and provisions will be served following the service at Dad’s BBQ, located at 1238 US-45 in Eldorado, IL.
The funeral service will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, situated at 700 Forth Street in Eldorado, Illinois, on June 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. Public visitations will be available from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., while family visitation hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
