Janet Sue Moore, 84, lifelong resident of Eldorado passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at Wabash Senior living and Rehabilitation in Carmi. Janet was born July 20, 1939 in Eldorado to the late John and Mary (Ferrell) Blackman. She married Richard M. Moore who preceded her in death February 15, 2019. Janet graduated Eldorado Township High School, the 5th in her class, in 1957, Graduated Southern Illinois University with a bachelors degree in education in 1961 and went on to receive a masters degree at the University of Evansville in 1970. She taught at Ridgway High School from 1960 to 1975 then Worked at the Department of Children and Family Services from 1982 until retirement in 2002. She was a member of St. Kateri Catholic Church. Janet is survived by a son: Mark (Myra) Moore of Omaha, two sisters: Mary Beth Briley of Newburg, IN, Laura (Don) Bunch of UT, four grandchildren: Michael Moore of ELdorado, Matthew (Emily) Moore of Fayetteville, AR, Kelly (Kelly) Phelps of Harrisburg, Aaron (Arianne) Phelps of Eldorado, great grandson: James Moore, four step-great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother: Sam Blackman. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, July 19, 2024 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Rev. Aaron Phelps officiating. Visitation will be Friday at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
