John D. McDowell

John D. McDowell, 74, resident of Stonefort passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. John was born October 7, 1946 in Galatia to the late John and Lucille (Cowan) McDowell. He worked as a builder and built many homes in the area. He married the former Patricia L. Beavers who survives. In addition to his wife Patty, he is survived by children: Deannine Cook of Carrier Mills, Johnna (Jack) Johnson of Eldorado, Chad (Renee) Mills of AL, Robert Mills of Harco, Daniel Mills of Stonefort, Kimberly Mills of Carrier Mills, grandchildren: Brittney (Mark) Dirnberger of MO, Josh Harner of Marion, Whittney Cook of MO, Brandon (Stacy) Harner of Eldorado, Lexie Wheeler of Carrier Mills, Shawn Folwell of Carrier Mills, John Hunter Mathews of AL, Izabella Mills of AL, Landon Mathews of AL, great grandchildren: Dalton Harner of Marion, Nora Rose Wade of MO, niece and nephew: Kevin McDowell of Herrin, Dana McDowell of Eldorado and his faithful canine companions Pablo and Zuri. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Willie McDowell and a son-in-law: Keith Cook. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with Rev Harl Cockrum officiating. Visitation is Wednesday 11:00am to service time.
