Ladine Estelle (Hargis) Davis, 84, resident of Equality, Illinois, passed away on November 28, 2024, at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Illinois. Ladine was born in Buckner, Illinois, on November 21, 1940, to the late James and Ida (Qualls) Hargis. She married her beloved husband and best friend, William E. Davis, who survives. In addition to her husband, Ladine is survived by her three precious children, Debbie (Richard) Linder of Eldorado, Illinois, Robert Hungate of Elizabethtown, Illinois, and Karla Hungate of Equality, Illinois; her eleven grandchildren, Rebecca (Scott) Albers of Columbia, Illinois, Jennifer Sapp of Eldorado, Illinois, Wesley Creamer of Eldorado, Illinois, Jamie (Andy) Ellis of McLeansboro, Illinois, Jonathan Linder of Harrisburg, Illinois, Jessica (Gerald) Hollowell of Evansville, Indiana, Emily (Josh) Watters of Eldorado, Illinois, Whitney Douthitt of Eldorado, Illinois, Joseph (Sarah) Linder of Nevada, Willie Holyfield of Pinckneyville, Illinois, and Harley Holyfield of Pinckneyville, Illinois; her son-in-law Daren Holyfield; two brother-in-laws, Jimmie (Carolyn) Davis and Robert Davis; as well as her 30 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert King, Grover Lemoin King, Ezra King, Rev. Kenneth King, Winifred Harris Webb, and Nadine Hargis; her daughter Mary Beth Holyfield; and her special sister-in-laws, Flora King, Ina King, and LaDeana Davis. Ladine was often known as “Deanie” by her family and friends and known as “Sister Davis” by her church family. Ladine lived in Rocksprings, Wyoming, for many years where she and Bill owned their store. She later moved to Illinois to be closer to her family. Ladine enjoyed shopping and making cherished memories with her family. Some of her favorite things were baking with her family and friends, watching her great-grandkids, painting, reading the Bible and singing her favorite Hymns. Ladine loved spending the holidays with her family and never left a gathering without taking a family photo for her to proudly display and admire. Ladine was an active member of her church, River of Life United Pentecostal Church, in Harrisburg, Illinois. She taught Sunday School and played the piano and accordion for the majority of her life. Ladine was a strong believer in her Heavenly Father, and knew that one day she would be welcomed back home. Ladine’s family would like to thank the nurses of the ICU at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for their compassion. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Bro. Bobby Gentry and Bro. Robert Morse officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery.
