Laverne J. Dardeen, 82, resident of O’Fallon passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh. Laverne was born August 17, 1941 in Galatia to the late Howard and Velma (Clark) Thomas. She married John Franklin Dardeen who preceded her in death. Prior to retirement she worked in Security for the United States Department of Energy earning the highest security clearance possible. She was proud of being one of the first woman to work and to be granted this clearance in her position. Laverne is survived by a daughter: Andrea Sarbak, a son: Michael (Maria) Dardeen, siblings: Hazel Holloway, Lena Mae Bozacker, Darrell (Janet) Thomas, Charles (Linda) Thomas, sisters-in-law: Carol Dardeen, Bonnie (Kevin) Bean, grandchildren: Angelina Dardeen, Brett Dardeen, Casandra Sarbak, great grandchildren: Luca Anthony and Patrick Elliott. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son: Jon Marc Dardeen, siblings: Mildred Thomas, Sharon Stone, Lawrence Thomas, Robert Thomas, Kenneth Thomas and a brother-in-law: William Dardeen. Memorial services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the O’Fallon, Illinois First United Methodist Church.
