Lynda Sue Henley, 80, resident of Harrisburg passed away Friday, October 11, 2024 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with family by her side. Lynda was born November 18, 1943 in Carrier Mills, Illinois to the late K.C. and Charlotte (Smith) Nolen. She married George Henley who preceded her in death. She worked as the secretary for the Saline County Sheriff’s office for 43 years before retiring. Everyone loved to stop by her office at the entrance of the courthouse and chat with her. She was a talented florist and loved working with many family members. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg. Lynda is survived by two sons: Roby (Delia) Podoriscki of Harrisburg, Brent Henley of Harrisburg, a daughter: Cynthia Henley of Harrisburg, seven grandchildren: Ross (Emily) Bergman of Harrisburg, Brock Bergman of Harrisburg, Walker Henley of Harrisburg, Paisley Henley of Harrisburg, Shawnee Henley of Harrisburg, Blane (Haleigh) Podoriscki of Norris City, Ann Marie Podoriscki of Harrisburg and her faithful canine companion, Otis. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth Nolen, Jack Nolen and two sisters: Judy Vinyard and Joy Ann Pyle. Memorial services will be at 2:30 pm Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg. Visitation will be Saturday, 12:30 pm until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Shop With a Cop.
