Mark Jackson Obituary

The family of Mark Leslie Jackson of Eldorado, IL is saddened to announce his passing on September 3, 2024 at the age of 43, after a long battle with cancer and kidney failure. Mark was a fighter and wanted to spend as much time with his family as God allowed. Mark was born in Kentucky, moved to Illinois at the age of 8. He resided in Texas for a few years then moved back to Illinois. Mark loved adventure. He wanted to see the world, learn different cultures and knowledge of history. He loved music of all genres. You could walk into knee slapping country, head banging rock, or sweet smooth soul, you just never knew. He would talk about the artist backgrounds and how the song made him feel. He even let us all know what songs reminded him of us, so when we hear them we remembered him. He had a soulful voice when he sang and the song “Tennessee Whiskey” will forever remind us of him. Mark was predeceased by his grandparents: LC and Juanita Collins, and Aunt Ellen Collins of Henshaw, KY. Mark is survived by his Dad and Mom: James and Judy Jackson, his sister: Heather Hayes, his brother: Kevin and Jessica (wife) Jackson and their 3 children Carter, Brooke, and Lane, his nephew: Jordan Jackson, his niece: Alexis Hayes and her two children Kamden and Damarr, Aunts: Holly Hudson and Shannon Rudd, and several cousins. Mark was also blessed to have a wonderful girlie in his life: Mandy. They were long time friends and their love was undeniable. Mark’s face would light up just the mention of her name. We would also like to thank Dr Ahmed, Loni Banks and their wonderful staff and nurses, Hospice of Southern Illinois nurse: Laura Leonberger. Thank you for being so sweet to all of us through all of this. You took wonderful care of Mark.  While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. In honor of his final wishes, we will be having a small private ceremony.
