Mary Esther (Strayer) Mick

Mary Esther (Strayer) Mick of Muddy, Illinois passed away on December 28, 2024, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Mary was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa to Perry Newell and Marie (Huss) Strayer. Mary was married to the love of her life, Thomas David Mick, for 50 years and he preceded her in death in October 2016. Mary will be greatly missed by her children: Diana (Wesley) Lackey of Sugar Land, TX, Robin (Paul) Robinson of Thompsonville, IL, and Thomas (Sheral) Mick of Las Cruces, NM, and her grandchildren: Jessica (Billy) Carter, Alex (Morgan) Lackey, Kyle Butler, Kevin Mick, Jonathan Mick and Madison Mick, and her great-grandchildren: Liam and Brantley Carter, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Leila Fraise, brother, Bobby Strayer, and her faithful canine companion, Eli. Many people remember Mary from her former days working at the Harrisburg Wal-Mart, her membership at Bankston Fork Baptist Church or seeing her at her weekly hair appointment. Mary never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone she met. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 11:00 am until service time. Burial will be at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.
