Opal L. Cummins, 97, resident of Eldorado passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born April 26, 1925 to the late Earl and Ida May (Crowder) Russell. On March 1, 1947 she married Raymond “Red” Cummins, who preceded her in death on October 31, 1985. Opal was a life long, faithful member of Scott Street Baptist Church for over 60 years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed quilting, camping trips with her family, taking walks around her neighborhood, and most importantly studying her Bible. She loved costume jewelry and no outfit was complete without a headscarf and a beaded necklace. Opal is survived by her two sons Danny (Linda) Cummins and Jim (Connie) Cummins. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Carrie Jo (Jimmy) Sisk, Katie (Chad) Albers, and Jameson Cummins. Seven great-grandchildren, Kaleb (Chandler) Williams, Molly Jo Williams, River Sisk, Jack and Tucker Bruce, Caden and Colin Cummins, Three great-great-grandchildren Taylen, Stella, and Stevie Williams. Her sister-in-laws, Juanita Mattingly, Barbara Russell, Hazel Reed, and brother-in-law Lewis (Dottie) Cummins, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her three brothers, Lester (Betty) Russell, Eugene (Alberta) Russell, and Everett “Sonny” Russell. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Noon Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Rev. Don Puckett officiating. Burial will be in Coffee Cemetery near Harrisburg. Visitation will be Saturday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
