Otto Brown, 91, of Eldorado passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Anna Veterans’ Home in Anna, IL. Otto was born in Eldorado on April 10, 1930 to the late Claude and Ethel (Catlin) Brown.
Otto is survived by his wife Anita Brown of Broughton. He is also survived by his daughter Sherry Unthank of Eldorado, grandson Carey (Katie) Unthank of Eldorado and three great-grandsons, Larry, Peyton, and Bryson, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by two sisters, Laura (Ralph) Hausser of Frankfort, IL, Linda (Larry) Young of Beecher, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Dewey, Albert, Joel, C.A., Bobbie, Larry, and Donnie; three sisters, Sybil Ursch, Betty Pruett, and Carolyn Aldridge; step-daughter Vicki Crouse and son-in-law Larry Joe Unthank.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Germany. Early in life he worked as a professional painter and as a bar tender at the VFW in Eldorado, and later became owner of Saline County Golf & Country Club until his retirement. His favorite past time was fishing with his brothers and he also loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery with military honors and Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the Colonial Terrace Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
