Patricia Carol (Pankey) Holmes

Patricia Carol (Pankey) Holmes, age 66 of Harrisburg, passed away at her residence with her family present at 3:41 a.m. on September 23, 2023.

Patty was born on July 1, 1957, in Harrisburg, to the late Richard “Red” and Virginia Webb Pankey. On June 6, 1986, she married John Holmes. They shared 37 wonderful years together.

Patty was homemaker who enjoyed music, painting, cooking and most special to her, she loved her husband and family and especially her son John Patrick. Patty also loved dearly her little dogs Margot, and Max.

Patty graduated Harrisburg High School with the class of 1975 she also was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg and a member of the Raleigh Historical Society.

Patty is survived by her husband John Holmes of Harrisburg, one son, John Patrick Holmes of Harrisburg and Fiancée Kaitlin Austin. Sister-in-Law Marilyn Gore of Harrisburg and Sister and Brother In-Law Rosemary (Henry) Cozart of Carrier Mills. She leaves five nieces and nephews, Tracy Adams, Richard (Kacy) Gore, Shelly (Gary) Boots, all of Harrisburg, Jason (Tracy) Gore of Schererville, Indiana, and Jim (Teresa) Cozart of Creal Springs. nine great-nieces and great-nephews, Cody Gore, Taylor Boots, Cole Adams, Delaney Adams, Evan Adams, Olivia Gore, Caleb Gore, Morgan Cozart, and Ridge Cozart; and special cousin, Ken (Libby) Osburn of Greenville, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her brothers Mike Gore, Tom Gore, and infant brother David Joe.

At her request she has been cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday October 28, 2023 at 3 p.m. at St Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg with Father Christian Iwuagwu and Father Ignatius Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Colonial Terrace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions would be appreciated and can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to St. Francis CARE No Kill Shelter in Murphyboro, IL or to St Mary Mother Center of St Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg envelopes will be available at the services.
