Raymond Everett Harrawood, 96, resident of Galatia passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. Raymond was born January 5, 1928 in Eldorado, Illinois to the late Arthur and Nellie (Shelton) Harrawood. On September 20, 1947 he married the former Lillian “Beryl” Cummins who preceded him in death on October 14, 2022. Raymond farmed all his life in the Galatia community. He was a member of the Galatia Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons: David (Debra) Harrawood of Galatia, Stan (Reeba) Harrawood of Galatia, a sister: Betty Pool of Harrisburg, grandchildren: Kim (Mitchell) Jenkins, Susan (Clint) Mosby, Jeff (Candida) Payne, Scott Payne, Mark (Dawn) Payne, Matt Harrawood, Amy (Chris) Bean, Dana (Kyle) Oglesby, Josh (Michaela) Harrawood, Jacob (Jasmine) Harrawood, 26 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter: Marilyn Payne, three brothers: Bob Harrawood, Etsel Harrawood and Ronnie Harrawood and three sisters: June Fulkerson, Jane Martin and Virginia Harrawood.Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, September 20, 2024 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Pastor Jacob Gray officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
