Robert Mason Obituary

After a period of declining health, Robert (Bob) Lee Mason passed away at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana on January 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on November 6th, 1944, in Washington, DC.  Bob served in the US Army from December of 1961 to January of 1965 and was attached to the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Bob met his wife, Diane Elizabeth Bartok, in November of 1963 while stationed there. Bob and Diane were married on March 20th, 1965.  They made their home in Eldorado, Illinois where he resided until his death.  Bob and Diane spent countless hours golfing until his health no longer permitted. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals games, fishing, and spending time with his many and very spoiled animals. Bob had multiple careers throughout his lifetime. He worked as a coal miner for Sahara Coal Company, and a comptroller for American Needle and Novelty Company and M&R Distributors. Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Diane; daughter Kelly Mason of Eldorado, Illinois and son Robert (Rob) Mason and wife Jenn of Olney, Illinois. Also surviving are Bob’s beloved grandchildren Bobby, Zoe (Dani), Steven, and Evey.  Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Lobe and his brother, Richard Lobe. The family would also like to thank the entire staff at Memorial Hospital for the incredibly compassionate care that Bob and his family received while there. They made an incredibly difficult time a bit easier for all.  Details concerning arrangements will be announced at a later date.
