It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy William Uzzle, Jr., a beloved father, papa, brother, and friend who left us on the morning of Friday, February 28, 2025, at age 66. He was a man of great strength, wisdom, and kindness, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Roy was born on August 31, 1958, in Eldorado, Illinois, to Roy William Uzzle, Sr. and Arlene Marie Rhodes. He is survived, by his children, Brian Uzzle (Stefanie) and Sarah Norman (Mark); grandchildren Talia, Zayne, Lula B, and Emma; and siblings, David Uzzle (Dru) and Kathy Colton (Brian), along with many other relatives and dear friends that will forever cherish his memory. Roy grew up with a strong sense of family and a deep appreciation for hard work. Throughout his life, he was known for his dedication to his loved ones, always lending a helping hand, give words of advice, and sharing a joke to bring a smile. His greatest joy was being a father and papa. He poured his heart into raising his children and grandchildren. As a devoted father, he led by example, teaching his children values of honesty, perseverance, and compassion. His love knew no bounds, and his presence was a source of strength and comfort. As a devoted son, he honored his father’s wish to take care of his family. This wish was magnified by caring for his mother for eleven years. Also, he always looked out for his siblings. His acts of selflessness, love, and sacrifice define him as a person. Roy was passionate about many things. He had a love for learning, his country, and enjoying life. He had a brilliant mind that could figure out complex problems. He enjoyed growing things and the beauty around him. He was highly involved in politics and the Democratic party starting in his teenage years. He also had a love for Walt Disney and the magic it could bring to people. His legacy will live on through the lessons he imparted, the memories he created, and the love he shared. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will remain in our hearts always. There is comfort found knowing he is with his parents and other loved ones. We find comfort in knowing that his love and guidance will continue to shape our lives. Rest in peace, Roy. You will be missed beyond words. There will be a visitation for friends and family on Friday, March 7, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, 700 4th St, Eldorado, Illinois, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will be held Saturday at 9:00 am followed by a service to honor and celebrate his life at 11:00 am. After the service, he will be laid to rest next to his parents at Lindale Memorial Gardens, Eldorado, Illinois. After the interim, there will be a gathering at the Harrisburg Park Kiwanis shelter.
