Thomas Elder “Red” Davis, 88, of Eldorado, Ill., passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the VA Center in Marion. He was born on December 8, 1930 in Eldorado, the son of the late Benjamin and Merle (Elder) Davis. Red married the former Margaret Ellen Cantrell in Little Rock, Ark. and Margaret preceded him in death on May 11, 2009. In 1962 Red started his heating and air business at the Gallatin County Tin Shop in Ridgway and was part owner in the Eldorado Automotive for thirty years and also farmed.and was part owner in the Eldorado Automotive for thirty years and also farmed. He served his country in the army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Wasson Baptist Church. Red is survived by his three sons, Ronnie Davis of Eldorado, Donnie and Jo Ellen Davis of Omaha, Bill Davis of Norris City; four grandchildren, Donnie Davis Jr., Joseph Davis, Elizabeth Davis, and Josh Davis; two great grandchildren, Jaidyn and Mark Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Tommy Davis Jr.; two brothers and seven sisters. Visitation for Red will be held on Tuesday, August 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado. Funeral service will be the follow day at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 7th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Creek Cemetery near Eldorado with military rites by the Eldorado VFW and Army Military Honors Team. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wolf Creek Cemetery.
