Obituary

William T. Johnson, 92, of Eldorado, Illinois, passed away at home after a long illness on July 7, 2023. Bill was born in Eldorado on April 13, 1931 to Dr. William F. and Mildred Johnson. He attended Eldorado schools and graduated from Eldorado High School in 1949. Bill enlisted in the Navy and was attached to the Marines as a Hospital Corpsman. After leaving the armed services, he graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1956. That same year he married Judith Carter and the couple moved to Champaign, Illinois where they lived for 59 years. While in Champaign, Bill worked as an investment officer in a local bank. Bill and Judy raised two children William Fletcher and Cara Lee. In 2015, they returned to Eldorado to be nearer their son and his family.

Bill attended First Presbyterian Church in Champaign. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club for over 50 years. He also enjoyed playing tennis with friends and traveling. Bill was an excellent musician with a beautiful and powerful tenor voice. He loved to sing.

Bill is survived by his wife Judy, his children William Fletcher (Diana) and Cara (Stuart), six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

There will be a private burial service at Wolf Creek Cemetery.
