William Arlin Unthank, 64, of Walsh, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born in Harrisburg, Illinois, on August 21, 1961, to the late George William Unthank and Emma Lucille (Parker) Unthank. William worked as a carpenter for many years, taking great pride in his craft and the work of his hands. He was known for his strong work ethic and the satisfaction he found in building and creating things that would last. William loved riding motorcycles and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, riding ATVs, and mud bogging. Above all else, he cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with them. William is survived by his sons, Billy Cummins of Harrisburg and Lucas Querternous of Eldorado; his daughter, Amanda Davis of Pinckneyville; his sisters, Melody (Kendall) Lane, Delores Rivers, and Tina Unthank; his beloved grandchildren, Kaydn, Cobie, Kinzleigh, Harper, Journee, Dax, Draven, Hannah, Tyler, and Matthew; his great-grandchildren, Harlo, Mac, and Adeline; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Unthank, and the man who raised him, his stepfather, Daniel Lindsey. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Blake Clayton officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial at Wolf Creek Cemetery will follow services.
