William “Billy” Odell Hunziker, 49, of Galatia, Illinois passed away Monday, June 10, 2024 at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, Illinois. Billy was born on April 19, 1975 in Murphysboro, Illinois to Judy (Lee) and William “Bill” R. Hunziker. Billy was a Christian and a deeply beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a river deckhand and a member of Laborers Local 830, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Billy is survived by his wife, Alexis (Jackson) Hunziker and children Luke, Alexander and Jackson Hunziker, his mother: Judy Hunziker, sisters: Dawn (Les) Caplinger, Tina (Bob) Caraway and Beth (Jeremy) Happold, father and mother-in-law: Aaron and Janie Jackson, brother and sister-in-law: Joey and Katie Jackson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, a special uncle Delmar Hunziker and lifelong friends Ryan Hale and Eric Paul. Billy was preceded in death by his father William “Bill” Hunziker. The family wishes to thank those who prayed for him during his lengthy, hard fought battle against cancer. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, June 21, 2024 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado, Illinois with the Reverend Bruce Cullers officiating. Visitation is Friday, June 21, 2024, 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
