Wilma Louise Barton, age 97, of Eldorado, Illinois, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 22, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most. She was born on April 2, 1928, in her home in Ridgeway, Illinois, to Andrew and Mabel Cox, and throughout her life she radiated kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. Affectionately known by many as the “Golden Meemaw,” Wilma had a heart of gold and a smile for everyone she met. Her gentle spirit and selfless love were evident in the way she cared for others—always ready to help, encourage, or comfort someone in need. Though quiet and reserved by nature, her presence was full of grace and compassion. Her deep love for Jesus was not just something she believed—it was something she lived. She extended His love to others in every hug, every act of kindness, and every word of encouragement. Wilma dedicated 17 years of faithful service at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado, Illinois, and spent many years providing in-home care to elderly individuals. Her compassion and nurturing spirit made a lasting impact on the lives of many families, offering comfort and dignity to those in their most vulnerable moments. Wilma leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will continue in the lives of her cherished: son, Scott Andrew Barton, grandchildren Andrew (Drew) Nicolas Barton, Hannah Louise Barton, Anthony Colt Barton. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Clarence Barton, son Robert Keith Barton, parents Andrew and Mabel Cox, and siblings Florene Gidcumb, Ivan Dean Cox, Donna Jean Millikan, Samual Jack Cox, Sheila Kaye Pittman. Though there will be no formal service, her family and friends celebrate her homegoing, knowing she is now rejoicing in heaven with Jesus and the loved ones who went before her.
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” – Proverbs 31:26
