Wilma Nell Perry, 97, longtime resident of Eldorado passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Nell was born November 3, 1925 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late A.A. and Anna (Thompson) Moore. Nell attended Harrisburg Township High School and graduated Valedictorian in 1943. She went on to graduate with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 1947 at Southern Illinois University. She worked as a student and civil service employee in the business management office at SIU from 1943 to 1957. On August 24, 1947 she married Charles W. “Bill” Perry who preceded her in death March 22, 1987. Nell taught elementary school in Carrier Mills from 1968 until June of 1990. Nell is survived by two children: Loretta A. “Lori” Cook and Craig W. (Kathleen) Perry, one grandson: Dr. Mitchell (Amanda) Cook, two great grandchildren: Alaina and Ethan Cook and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by siblings: Charles E. Moore, Evelyn Rose Moore, John Albert (Mildred) Moore, Roald A. (Ethel Mae) Moore, Bernard W. (Jane) Moore, Anna Lee (Max) Rea, Lowell W. (Beatrice) Moore, William Thompson Moore and a son-in-law: Reggie Cook. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Rev. Ron Reed officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eldorado Memorial Library and will be accepted at the funeral home.
