My sincere condolences. Your father baptized me at Mt. Healthy Church of God. Our family adored him and your mother. They laid a solid foundation of love, caring and Christianity to those they met. I look back on my childhood with fond memories and a stronger faith due to their unwaivering commitment to the community. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mary , so sorry for you and your brother.. I went to Mt Healthy "you gave a baby shower for me in 1973".. I so truely loved your parents. Larry's brother David helped on the work on the church with your dad.. Larry and I were just saying how much your dad & mom meant to us " I am not going to take it back he said while preaching ".. a good man.
We love you all ,
Gail Hopkins
ps Larry's mom Neda went to be with the Lord in 2002 " she was church clerk " but not sure if during your dad's pastorship..

Mary & David,
Our heartfelt condolenses on the passing of your dad. He was my first pastor! He and your mom made such an impact on our family. Pastor Guynn was always so kind, precious and sensitive to the move of the Holy Spirit.
We love you and your family and are praying for you. He is in well keeping and what a reunion it will be to see all the lives that Pastor and Sis Guynn had an impact on.

I had the honor of having this Godly man as my Pastor. I remember asking him to come speak at my high school in my world's religion class. He did not hesitate, he gladly accepted the challenge. I remember he preached 1 Sunday night about the mission field and I felt the tug at my heart to accept the calling into the ministry. I praise the Lord for sending him and Sister Joy (who was my Sunday School Teacher) into my life and for never giving up on me. I am now A Pastor in the Church of God. And I believe he was a big part of that. I thank God for my Christian Heritage...My prayers and thoughts go out to his family. God Bless you.

We want to send our most sincere condolences to the family. We didn't know of James passing until yesterday.
James was such a good friend, cousin, and neighbor to George and Mary Lee and family. He was loved as well as Joy to them. But most of all he was such a good and faithful servant to the Lord....well done James.

James made the posters for my campaign to be Student Body President of Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, TN in the Fall of 1950. They were magnificent and helped me overcome having been at the school for only two weeks. I won by a landslide. Without his help I never would have made it. I always loved and admired James and Joy. His life was a great blessing to many.
