Martha Joan Douglass, 85, lifelong resident of Eldorado passed away Tuesday July 14, 2015 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. Joan was born March 20, 1930 to the late Leslie and Ora M. (Smith) Stinson. On November 25, 1950 she married Carr Douglass who preceded her in death March 2, 2013. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eldorado and was a past member of the Eldorado Garden Study Club. She also enjoyed spending time searching for and collecting unusual rocks and fossils. She is survived by a son; Randy (Gail) Douglass of Carmi, a daughter; Janet (Bill Todd) Ping of Marion, a brother; Leslie (Virginia) Stinson of Bethalto, grandchildren; David (Brooke) Douglass, Rachel (Daniel) Fly, Sarah Douglass, Jason (Marionna) Ping, Doug (Whitney) Ping, Natalie (Dave) Cronin, great grandchildren; Kailene, Chelsea, Bryce, Mallory, Carter, Anna, Jax, Nash, Onna, Korbin, Konnor, Koltyn, Kionna and Harlan. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two infant daughters; Brenda Jean and Carla Jo, a brother; Eugene Stinson, and a sister Mary Katherine Cohlmeyer Penrod. Visitation will be Friday July 17, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the funeral home in Eldorado with Pastor Chris Wise and Rev. Roger Russell officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. In addition to flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
