Ruth Ellen Kane Gholson, 72, resident of Broughton passed away Wednesday November 11, 2015 at her residence. Ruth Ellen was born January 5, 1943 in Eldorado to the late Hugh Martin and Alma Marie (Richey) Kane. Early in life she married Fred Gholson. Ruth Ellen received her bachelors degree in music and then taught in the Coulterville school system for several years and also gave private music lessons. Most recently she was employed by Addis Health Care. She was a long time member of the Broughton Baptist Church where she served as the pianist. She was a proud member of the Eldorado Alumni Band where she played he beloved clarinet. Ruth is survived by a niece; Meredith (Michael) Boner of Charleston, a nephew; Ashley (Aimee) Gholson of Mattoon and her great niece and nephew Katelyn and Chase. In addition to her parents she was a preceded in death by her sister Mary Helen Edwards. Ruth Ellen had a love for cats her whole life, she leaves behind Callie and BooBoo. Funeral Services will be at Noon Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Broughton Baptist Church with Rev. David Angelly and Rev. Bill Gholson officiating. Burial will be in Barker Cemetery in Broughton. Visitation will be Saturday 10:00 am to service time Noon at the church.
