Shirley Nadine (Maynard) Allen, 79, of Galatia went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 12, 2016 at 1:00 am at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.  She was born in Williamson County on September 4, 1937, to Harold and Sarah (Harris) Maynard.  She married Ray Lewis Allen, on May 13, 1955, who preceded her in death on March 14, 2015.  To this union was born a son, Darryl, and 2 daughters, Brenda and Linda.

She owned Shirley’s Cakes for several years. She took great joy in this endeavor and loved it as more than just a business.  She loved helping many young couples start their marriage with a cake donation.  Another talent dear to her heart was playing the piano for the Lord.  She attended Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 50 years where she played the piano faithfully for the Lord for many years.  Shortly before her death, she played at an old church at Cade’s Cove in Tennessee, which gave her an enjoyable experience to remember.

She is survived by a son Darryl (Cindy) Allen of Harrisburg, daughters Brenda (Alan) Hunt of Galatia, and Linda (Kevin) Edwards of Galatia, 5 grandchildren, Aaron (Paula) Allen of Harrisburg and Doug Allen and fiancé Carolyn Head of Richmond Heights, MO, sons of Darryl and Cindy Allen, Brent Hunt of Eldorado and Brittany Hunt of Eldorado, children of Brenda and Alan Hunt, and Calvin (Shannon) Edwards of Galatia, son of Linda and Kevin Edwards, 5 great grandchildren, Jacob, Rylee, and Addyson Allen, children of Aaron and Paula Allen, Brendon Hunt, son of Brent Hunt, and Britton Collins, son of Brittany Hunt, a sister Maxine Grounds of the Alton area, two sisters-in-law Betty Morris of Galatia and Ann (Maynard) Lockwood of Neoga, IL and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers William, Harold Jr, Bertis and Lloyd, sister Mildred Patton, brothers-in-law Reggie Morris, John Grounds, and C. H. Patton, sisters-in-law Ruth Maynard and Jean Maynard, and a great grandson, Jackson Gene Edwards, son of Calvin and Shannon Edwards.

Her body will be cremated.  Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.  There will be a private burial at a later date.
